12th Feb at 15:30-17:30 (Geneva)
An in-person roundtable dialogue on ‘Why the right to health is essential for an effective pandemic treaty’.
This meeting will provide an important opportunity for those involved in the pandemic treaty negotiations to share reflections on how the pandemic treaty can be strengthened by the right to health and associated human rights and how this can be achieved in the text to ensure alignment with the WHO Constitution and international human rights obligations and to provide the needed foundation for equitable and effective PPPR. It will be convened under the Chatham House Rule to facilitate open reflection and discussion.
The meeting will be hosted jointly by the Geneva Global Health Hub (G2H2) and the Civil Society Alliance for Human Rights in the Pandemic Treaty (CSA), with representation from OHCHR. It is part of a series of exchanges with Geneva Permanent Missions convened by G2H2, ‘Digging into the hardware of the Pandemic Treaty’.
The meeting will be followed by a simple reception.
